Randy Melquist, Glass Artist

Randy was born in Sheffield, grew up there mostly, spent a couple years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, then moved back and graduated from Sheffield High School. He joined the Navy, where he spent 5 years stationed in San Diego, California. Liked it so much he stayed for 12 more years.

Randy moved back to Sheffield in 1991 and taught himself glass etching, stained glass, glass fusing and slumping, and is now learning offhand glass blowing and flame working. He has done many arts and craft shows in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.

Randy also has a small mail order business selling his etched and carved bevels to other stained glass artists, and a web site in the works… called Excalibur Glass where he sells his finished work.

Randy’s studio is located in his home at 407 Radaker Street, Sheffield, Pennsylvania 16347 (814-968-4440).

Randy is currently in the planning stages of building a small hot shop for glassblowing, which should be finished by the winter of 2011.
